Maximizing Imagination: The Creative Journey of Justin Stucey
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Justin discovered the power of imagination at a young age, channeling it into creating tangible realities. As the only child in the family, Justin nurtured a rich inner world that sparked a lifelong passion for creativity.
The journey began with humble beginnings, crafting intricate dioramas from cereal boxes, lighting them with house lamps, and playing music from cassette tapes. Storytelling ignited a flame of innovation that would burn brightly for decades to come. From these early DIY projects emerged a talent for transforming ideas into immersive experiences.
Justin found early inspiration for emotional storytelling in the halls of his church where a love for music was cultivated. He learned piano as a teenager and played trombone, baritone, and tuba in high school. During this time, the stage became a canvas for his creativity, serving as the scenic designer for Godspell during his junior year.
Formal education in recording technology at San Jacinto College laid the groundwork for a professional career that would span diverse industries and continents. His first break came at Six Flags Astro-World, where a blend of passion and resourcefulness secured him a job in entertainment production at 18.
From theme parks to regional theater, Justin honed his skills, working on iconic productions like Closer at Alley Theatre and L’amour De Lion at Santa Fe Opera. International experiences followed, including a stint with Cirque Productions that took him to Mexico City, marking the beginning of a global journey in the entertainment industry.
The cruise industry beckoned, offering Justin the opportunity to oversee onboard theatrical productions for renowned companies like Cunard and Princess Cruises. His role culminated in the historic decommissioning event of the QE2, where he hosted and met Queen Elizabeth II herself.
Between contracts, Justin continued to lend his talents to various projects, from large-scale church productions to coordinating theatrical shows at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. A move to New York City opened new doors in experiential marketing and theatrical development, where he collaborated with prestigious brands like BMW, Good Morning America, and West Side Story US national tour.
His expertise caught the attention of Feld Entertainment, where Justin served as Co-Creative Director, reimagining Disney On Ice. Later roles as Creative Director at the Denver Zoo and Associate Show Manager at Meow Wolf further solidified his reputation as a visionary leader in the industry.
Community service has always been a cornerstone of Justin’s career, serving on boards and committees dedicated to advancing the arts and entertainment sector. His latest venture as a Producer for Walt Disney Imagineering represents the culmination of a lifelong journey, where imagination meets innovation on his grandest stage yet.
